Blue is a confident blue boy of approx 28" to the shoulder. Just another unwanted statistic he is now looking for his very own forever home and family.
Location: Currently in kennels in Suffolk. Blue would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family. We are very stuck for foster homes right now with a lot of dogs in kennels, sucking up our finances, any help that you can give at all would be hugely appreciated.
Key Points: Confident, nice boy who has got more and more friendly as time has gone by. He is BRILLIANT around people including children, good in the car but very strong on the lead and so will need ongoing lead training and we would recommend that he wears a non-pull harness, clean in his kennel, takes treats gently.
~ Personality ~
Blue is a confident boy who is great around people and children. A very nice boy indeed who has become more and more friendly the more relaxed he has felt. His coat is pretty dull at the moment and he is looking forward to being in a lovely home and being fed lots of yummy food to bring the shine out!
~ In the Home ~
Blue has never had the chance to be in a family of his own but keeps his kennel nice and clean so it shouldn’t take him too long to get the hang of everything.
~ Other Animals ~
Blue is OK around other dogs. We were told that he wasn't very keen on other dogs but the kennel staff have seen no evidence of this to date. He has not met any small dogs before however and so will need special and careful socialising when out and about
~ Out and About ~
Blue is great in the car but strong on the lead and will need ongoing lead training and to wear a non-pull harness for extra control. He loves his walks though and we think with him simply getting more exercise he will pull less. Like most greyhounds Blue would be happy with two 30 minute walks a day with a chance to stretch his legs off lead a couple of times a week. This would need to be in an enclosed area away from livestock and public roads.
~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
~ Where Can I Live? ~
Blue would fit into most family environments and like a family that will help him with his ongoing training and socialisation. He would probably be happier as an only dog. Blue will need someone home most of the time to help him settle into home life. Please be aware that we do not home dogs to families with children under 8 years of age. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a home checker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to Suffolk to meet and collect him.
~ Where Am I? ~
Blue is currently in kennels in Suffolk. If anyone feels they could foster Blue to help him on his journey to a forever home, please give us a call for an informal chat. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Blue will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, deflead and wormed and a home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you would like to offer a new home for Blue, please contact the rescue on 075 000 626 48 and ask for Bronwen or send them an email if available.
