Our little Roxi is ready to find a home now but please do not all just look at the photos and go aww! Roxi needs a very special home and just because she is a small dog it does not make her any less problematic than a big dog may be! Roxi is 13 months old and weighs just 9kg. We highly suspect she is an Italian Greyhound/whippet/saluki mix. She is way to fine boned and small to be just whippet x saluki.
Roxi is a very timid little dog and is terrified of the anyone and everything to begin with, she has very little life experience even though she has been in a home and needs a very patient and understanding home with older steadier dogs who will both indulge her play but help her confidence.
Her old home said they had difficulty housetraining her but we believe that with consistency and a set routine this should not be overly difficult. There were children in the old home but Roxi could be nippy with them and we feel a noisy busy environment will help feed her stress so any home should have teenagers or above in. Roxi needs a home sadly at the moment where someone is around all or most of the time, someone with the time and skills to continue with her house and basic training and to invest into her confidence and socialisation. She does love her walks though and walks relatively well on lead, she will occasionally have the odd shout at other dogs and can go from timid to not backwards at coming forwards like the little enigma she is!
Roxi is currently a terrible traveller! Any new home needs to understand this and be willing to work with her to make her more comfortable when travelling. She has not had experience of cats but we feel she could happily live with a dog savy cat willing to stand up to her, a cat test will be carried out shortly.
Roxi is a lovely little dog BUT she will be hard work and this needs understanding!! She has not had the easiest life to date and lots of change and upheaval and people wishing to apply need to understand the level of commitment they are taking on and not just be lead by small, stunning little dogs looks.
Roxi does have a deformed toe on one of her feet (ignore the nailvarnish that was on when she landed and is now off) The vets have x rayed the toe at time of spay and are happy that it would not be in her best interests to remove any of the segments of it. She manages fine, is steady on it and doesn't bang it up. It would be more risky if bits were removed.
Roxi is currently in Stoke on Trent. She can be rehomed nationally subject to a successful homevisit and any new family being willing to travel to visit with her with any resident dogs. She will NOT be rehomed into a home with no other dogs present as she will NOT cope they give her great confidence and comfort.
Roxi is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed and microchipped and has been spayed.
