About Me

Young, full of fun and always ready for an adventure we are very excited to introduce you to this handsome chap who we know as Basil, but also affectionately refer to as Basil-Boo. This lively young whippet cross is only a year old, so he is full of beans and is looking for a family who will enjoy continuing his training so he can learn how to be the very best boy.

We keep telling Basil all about the forever family that will take him home and spoil him rotten, and he is eagerly waiting to meet them. He is a splendid dog, with a big cheeky, (sometimes a little bit naughty) personality that keeps all of his carers on their toes. He is a pleasure to spend time with and although he can be a little bit aloof initially, as soon as he gets to know you his personality begins to shine, and you’ve got a friend for life.

Being a whippety cross Basil has a lot of sighthound traits and this means his recall can be a bit selective at the best of times and sometimes his chase instinct can get the better of him. This means that Basil will need to be kept on lead when he is out and about, but he has very good lead manners and loves to explore the forest and countryside alongside his favourite people.

Alongside these on lead walks Basil also loves burning off some excess energy and giving his legs a good work out in our enclosed paddocks. Without this he can easily become frustrated, and he then starts to become quite overwhelmed, so it will be important for his new family to have a secure garden and to be willing to find him opportunities to safely exercise. There are lots of enclosed activity paddocks that can be hired for this, and even some private woodlands that are also fully enclosed.

Basil has a great desire to learn and is ever so eager to please which alongside his love of food means he loves a good training session. He has learnt lots of tricks since arriving at Lincoln Farm and this has included some lessons on doggy etiquette as he can sometimes struggle to contain himself around other dog. He now has a group of doggy friends whom he enjoys being off lead with but can at times find it quite overwhelming meeting new dogs. His new family will need to be his advocate in these situations and our team will be able to show you how we help him navigate this so he can continue to make new friends. We would like to find him a home where he will be the only pet so that he can focus on his training and bonding with his new family without any distractions. For the same reason we feel he’d be best matched to a family made up of adults and teenagers who will all enjoy getting stuck into life with their new best friend.
